"RGB" mode (red, green, blue) is specifically for monitors. You must understand that your monitor always presents images in "RGB" because those are its primary colors. Moreover "CMYK" and Pantone® will be also returned to you in this mode on screen. A "RGB" document is not printable and will then be automatically be modified to "CMYK, which will occur a more or less variation in the shades.

"CMYK" mode (cyan, magenta, yellow and black) is the basic mode for the digital color printing and also the best way to have the greatest choice of colors on the lithographic press. Consider higher cost and quality of this mode for the lithographic of great volume.

Pantone® are colors made with a pigmentation, a mixture which most of the time is not realizable with the "CMYK" mode. For example, take all the chromiums line of color and the fluo ones. If you wish to print in 2 colors, be sure that these colors are spot (Pantone) and not processed ("CMYK").

Compare the gamuts below colors in the illustration. Also note the impossibility to print a vast range of color of "RGB" mode.
